Want to discover more than one city in one trip? Many of the major cities in Central Europe are close together and you can easily travel between them by train or bus. Here are some suggestions for cities that are easily combined:

Berlin and Prague

Berlin and Prague are close enough to each other to be easily combined in the same trip, for example by flying to Berlin and returning from Prague. You can travel between the cities by train or bus, which takes about 4 hours.

Vienna and Bratislava

No capital cities in Europe are as close to each other as Vienna and Bratislava. The centres of both cities are about 80 km apart. Buses and trains are the easiest way to get between, but there are also boats on the Danube that you can take during the summer. If you want to see even more, you can continue to Budapest and fly home from there.

Amsterdam and Rotterdam

Amsterdam and Rotterdam are less than an hour apart by train, but the cities are completely different in character. Classic Amsterdam with its canals stands in stark contrast to the former industrial city of Rotterdam, with its high-rise buildings and modern architecture.
